Things I Did Last Night Instead of Blogging
September 2nd, 2011

  1. Picked up IEP at the house and then went to meet GAP at our neighborhood pizza joint for supper.
  2. Let IEP wipe pizza sauce all over my shirt when he wanted to snuggle during dinner.
  3. Resisted the temptation to have a Coke with my dinner.
  4. Sang “Wheels on the Bus” and “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” with IEP before bedtime.
  5. Listened to GAP regale me with descriptions of his own happiness at the start of college football season.
  6. Surfed the web for blog post inspiration while said college football season played in the background.
  7. Laughed with GAP while we folded two loads worth of laundry.
  8. Confronted the fact that my housekeeper didn’t show up yesterday and cleaned my bathroom myself because it had become just too gross to ignore anymore.
  9. Sadly pondered the fact that with my 34th birthday in a couple of weeks I will have officially entered my “mid-30s.”
  10. Wondered whether or not the colds that befell my family this week are waxing or waning.
  11. Took some NyQuil (with my OB’s permission since they took the alcohol out of it!)
  12. Went to bed early.

Love #1-7 – good for you! #8 makes me angry/sad. #9 – at least you’re not “almost 60″ (but for what it’s worth that’s not as bad as it sounds…..actually it’s pretty good!) Hope a long week-end makes you all feel better.

Thanks for #1, you just helped us make our dinner plans for tonight! 5:30 local pizza joint with our little guy :)

The fact of your list (and the title of this post) remind me that there’s “living” – and there’s “writing about living.”

    I struggle with this.

I wonder, if I challenged myself to such a list, what would be on it. Then again, the one day that I tried to “not write” I still wrote – I just didn’t “post,” and the not writing was harder than writing.

    My list? Quite possibly:

    1. Attempt moderation in something.
    2. Attempt again.
    3. Rinse and repeat.

    Enjoy your long weekend, Gale!

Ana – Glad to be of assistance. At the end of a pregnancy it doesn’t take much for me to accept an invitation to not make dinner. So when GAP called yesterday afternoon and proposed a pizza outing it was an easy decision! Enjoy your evening out with your guys!

BLW – You’re so right. I think there are reasons that blogging sometimes feels forced. We have to participate in life in order to comment on it, and as a blogger it’s easy for that equilibrium to get out of balance. It just wasn’t coming last night, so rather than force it, I just decided to come clean! :)

E – I actually ended up doing the bathroom, kitchen floor and hardwoods in the living/dining rooms. Knocking some of it out last night meant that there will be less hanging over my head this weekend. Would rather have come home to a clean house, but it’s not the end of the world… As for the long weekend? I can’t wait!!!

Sounds like a great night to me. Pizza with the family, a laugh with the hubby, early to bed. A siren call away from the blog. The yummy stuff of life.
